Description

Solid State Logic UMD192 Portable 192-Channel USB-C Dante/MADI Audio Interface

Ideal for bridging the professional live, broadcast, and studio worlds with one portable device, the Solid State Logic UMD192 is a compact USB-C 3.0 audio interface sporting USB, MADI, and Dante connectivity. Offering up to 192 channels at up to 96 kHz (128 channels at up to 192 kHz) and fully interoperable Dante AoIP with AES67 and ST 2110 support, this interface is incredibly flexible. Dante latency is extremely low (as low as 0.25 ms), and the UMD192 can receive clocking from either MADI or Dante sources. The unit offers ruggedized Ethernet ports for rigorous applications, including two primary and two secondary ports, as well as link and activity LEDs. The interface provides six BNC MADI pairs with redundancy mode for three dual-redundant MADI connections. The intuitive front-panel controls offer a lockout function to prevent accidental changes, and the front-panel screen provides a clear readout for signal flow, sample-rate matching, power status, and connectivity. The interface sports versatile power options, including direct AC power, PoE, and USB bus power, with redundancy functions to avoid a power loss impacting your project. The UMD192 includes a USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and an IEC power cable.

The Ideal Bridge Between USB, MADI, and Dante

Built for versatility, the UMD192 supports bidirectional audio between any two formats, MADI, Dante, or USB, with the third format able to receive a split feed. This makes it ideal for bridging multiple MADI-connected devices into a Dante network, or for high-channel-count recording and playback via USB 3.0.On the network side, UMD192 delivers fully interoperable Dante AoIP with AES67 and ST 2110 (with DDM) support and ultralow Dante latency down to 0.25 ms. UMD192 provides flexible clocking options from either MADI or Dante, covering sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz. With six MADI BNC pairs, the UMD192 can also be configured in redundant mode, enabling three dual-redundant MADI connections for mission-critical broadcast and live workflows.

All-In-One Solution for Live, Broadcast, and Studio

While the UMD192 is a natural fit for live sound environments, its versatility makes it equally valuable across a wide range of professional audio scenarios. From broadcast music recording and mixing—especially when paired with SSL System T—to high-channel-count studio sessions, the UMD192 delivers seamless integration and robust performance. It’s an ideal computer interface for Harrison 32Classic systems with Dante, and a perfect match for SSL Oracle or ORIGIN installations with Dante or MADI conversion. The UMD192 is a powerful solution for non-SSL console users in live sound, broadcast, studio, and postproduction settings. Offering exceptional connectivity, format bridging, and operational flexibility, in a compact, portable form factor. With unmatched flexibility and robust connectivity, the UMD192 is the perfect companion for engineers working across live sound, broadcast, postproduction, and studio environments. Whether used as a high-capacity interface or a format bridge, the UMD192 keeps workflows streamlined and future-ready.

Intuitive Front-Panel Control

The UMD192 front panel delivers clear, high-visibility indicators with real-time feedback on signal flow, sample-rate sync, power status, and network connectivity, keeping you in control, even under pressure. UMD192’s front-panel controls are locked by default to protect your predefined configuration and prevent accidental changes to settings. Press and hold the padlock button to temporarily unlock the other controls and change modes.

  • Lockout: press and hold to unlock other front-panel controls. Press and hold until the red lock symbol in the centre of the circle in the indicator panel turns off.
  • Mode: press to cycle through the signal flow modes—available when front panel is unlocked.
  • Clock source: press to toggle between Dante and MADI as clock source. Available when the front panel is unlocked.
  • MADI redundancy: press to toggle between MADI Redundancy on or off. Redundant mode applies to all MADI ports. Available when the front panel is unlocked.

Flexible Power and Redundancy

The UMD192 supports multiple power sources—AC mains, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and USB—offering flexible deployment options and allowing engineers and operators to build power redundancy into their setup. Any of these power sources can be used individually, and PoE can be combined with an external PSU to provide a redundant supply.
